In theory, interference is possible; but in practice, we have received no user feedback indictating serious issues.
The SP200 requires 12 Volts and 200 mA from an external source. The SP300 gets its power from its rechargeable battery.
Fugawi has no specification recommendations on tablets, largely because new models with a variety of features are regularly coming to market, month by month. But there are some helpful third-party sites that may be useful for product purchase research.
Various third party apps are available for Android and iOS that present NMEA data in various ways. Consult the makers of given software apps for details and support on configuring their app. Feedback from customers is appreciated on other apps or the limitations of the ones listed.
This article presents one of several possible configurations for getting NMEA 2000 engine data on to an Android or iOS tablet.
The full explanation of how to determine your engine's type of kill switch (Open To Stop, or Close To Stop) and which colour wires connect is fully explained in the WiMEA Installation Guide in the Downloads tab of the Fugawi Store's Fell Marine MOB+ Basepack product.
If you analog engine gauges match one or anothe known vendor then the Actisense EMU-1 should work well for your hardware.
If the software is having difficulty automatically determining which COM ports to use, this article explains how to deduce the correct COM port number on a Windows computer by examining Device Manager.
Many AIS Class B devices have a built-in means of evaluating whether a VHF antenna has acceptable quality / compatibility for use with AIS data. A VSWR (VHF Standing Wave Ratio) test either indicates failure (i.e. AIS not guaranteed to function) or success (reasonable quality for AIS usage). If the AIS device's user guide mentions no way the end-user can do such a test, consult a marine electronics dealer or marine installer. Marine shops with technical staff typically have the equipment to test a VHF antenna for AIS suitability.
In 2015, Microsoft changed elements of security related to USB device drivers in Windows 8.1 and 10. Windows 7 required a special hot fix to work-around issues concerning the driver changes. Most users received the hotfix automatically as part of Windows Updates. However, a few users may need to manually invoke the hotfix.
SAE J1939 networking is used in a few marine electronics applications, mainly concerning diesel engines. J1939 uses the same high-level protocol as NMEA 2000 but has non-trivial differences in terms of getting J1939 and NMEA 2000 working together.
